I have been a keen skier all my life, starting at the age of 12 on the plastic slope of hillend and now a (non-practising) BASI 2 ski instructor that loves off piste more than on. You’ll usually find me somewhere in amongst the powder bumps and not always upright! I'm a single parent to a very lovely daughter, Emily, who thankfully has also taken to the love of skiing since the age of 4. I like to bring people together and entertain and that’s my raison d’etre as the chairman of this club, to which I highly value as one of the best social clubs in Edinburgh that fortunately has a skiing problem! I’ve been a member since 1997 and have long lost count of the many friends and friendship groups made over these fun years.

I am a doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh. I have been skiing since I knew how to walk as my parents were lucky to have a flat in a small resort in the Pyrenees. I am no technical skier though, and prefer to enjoy the scenery and many coffee stops up the mountain!
I became a member of the ski club the very week I arrived in Scotland from France for work back in 2013. It gave me the opportunity to build many long lasting friendships with a wide variety of people. After acting as chair for a couple of years, I remain involved with the committee behind the scene.

My enthusiasm for skiing and other outdoor activities made the Edinburgh Ski Club a natural group for me to join back in 2014 and I haven’t regretted it for a moment. Having like minded people to ski (and socialise!) with has been a fantastic experience.
As a country member, I don’t make it to all the great selection of events on offer, but have enjoyed getting to know other members on holidays and weekends. Treasurer is my first role on the committee.

I joined the Edinburgh Ski Club shortly after my husband and I moved to Edinburgh from Seattle in 2021. As a member, I’ve been able to go hiking in the highlands, skiing in Europe and partying right here in Edinburgh! I joined the committee in 2023 and look forward to supporting members to get the most out of their memberships as well as introducing potential new members to the club.

I have been skiing since I first fell in love with the sport on some wonderful and crazy school trips! I've since morphed into an off-piste enthusiast and in the last couple of years I've also been getting into ski touring. When I'm not skiing, I love hillwalking and also enjoy a bit of paddle-boarding and wild swimming at Portobello, where I live. I joined the club in Autumn 2022, hoping to meet new people with similar interests, and it's certainly delivered. I've made some lovely friends through the socials and weekends away over the last year, and I'm really excited for my first ski club holiday to Mayrhofen in March 2024! I've joined the committee with responsibility for socials because I want to ensure the club continues to deliver a programme of regular and varied events with something to suit all of our members. See you in the pub!

Being a relative newbie to the ski club, signing up in 2022, I threw myself in at the deep end by becoming club secretary before taking on the role of holidays for this coming year. The role of holiday organiser seemed a natural transition, having been fortunate enough to organise a number of skiing breaks in the past for family and friends. I want this role to enable those who are thinking of a ski holiday for the first time to take the plunge and go for it - equally, I want to use my extensive skiing knowledge to plan rewarding trips for all ski club members. When I’m not splitting my time between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, I can be found on the golf course - with mixed success. I also have a bit of a soft spot for my wee Pomeranian (Poppy). But, back to more things skiing related, I’m in the process of commencing my path to becoming a skiing instructor.

I have been in the club for over 20 years! I am a qualified BASI 2 instructor and have done several weeks of level 3 training in Courmayeur with Interski. I have taught there as well as in Pila and Hillend. I enjoy piste, off piste and some touring and have done an extensive amount of the first two disciplines having spent over a year of my life on skis! Coaching sessions are great for those who are keen to learn and improve their technique, which is invaluable if you want to enjoy your increasingly expensive ski holidays - learn before you go and get your legs tuned for the slopes so that you can enjoy your skiing from day one of your holiday. We all need ski instruction, even top level racers. Nobody knows it all and everyone at every level can improve. It is challenging and fun!

I was a snowboarder for several years before switching to skiing three years ago; absolutely love it. Joined the ski club in 2016 to meet like-minded people and relieve the boredom of working in the pensions industry! I’m now a member of the committee and help with ski hire.

I have long been interested and active in hill walking and the outdoors. I learned to ski and mountaineer after I moved from England to Seattle in 2015. I also enjoy camping and walking with my wife Katy and our dog, Zebo. I moved to Edinburgh in 2021 and have lived in Leith since December. I volunteer with the Water of Leith Conservation Trust and Hidden Door festival. Before I retired, I was manager of a group of leisure centers in England. In the United States, I worked in buildings maintenance for a neighbourhood nonprofit. There I was responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems, plumbing systems, general building repairs, painting and decorating.

I’m a keen skier and outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy on and off piste adventures, ski touring, hill walking and sailing. I’m an instructor at Hillend ski centre. I’ve been a member of Edinburgh Ski Club for a number of years and am currently weekends organiser. As well as traditional ski weekends I’m always looking for new and exciting areas to explore!

Kiwi overseas - I have a love for anything outdoors from lazy nights in front of a bonfire to finding interesting runs off-piste. Always looking for his next adventure that hopefully involves snow!
